Root Canal Treatment

Root canal treatment is an operative dental procedure aimed at preserving a severely carious, broken or infected tooth. It saves severely infected or damaged teeth by removing the diseased pulp, cleaning and disinfecting the root canals, and sealing them. It is often the last line of tooth preservation before tooth extraction.

HOW DO I KNOW IF I NEED THIS PROCEDURE?

Symptoms may include:

  • Deep cavity in tooth causing spontaneous pain

WHY ROOT CANAL TREATMENT?

Pain relief: RCT relieves intense tooth pain caused by infections or injuries.

Preservation: RCT result in preservation of natural tooth, thus maintaining proper oral function and esthetics.

Preventing spread of infection: without treatment dental infection can spread to surrounding bone and soft tissue and spaces leading to major complications.

THE PROCEDURE:
  • Diagnosis: Infected tooth is examined clinically and radiographically to assess the need of RCT.
  • Local anesthesia: To make the procedure painless and comfortable, local anesthesia is administered. We ensure that you are comfortable with local anesthesia so that procedure can be commenced.
  • Access opening and Biomechanical preparation of the tooth: Infected tooth structure is cleaned and pulp is removed. Root canals are disinfected and bmp is carried out using rotary file system.
  • Activation of root canals: For complete disinfection and sterilization of root canals, activation is performed using Endoactivator.
  • Obturation and post obturation: Root canal space is obturated using sterile GP points and Resin based Sealer to ensure the proper sealing of canals. Crown of tooth is restored to its natural anatomy using Composites reinforced with Fibrafill and Ribbond for proper function and esthetics of the tooth.
RECOVERY AND OUTLOOK:

Few patients may experience mild discomfort for 1-2 days and tooth can last a lifetime with proper care and maintenance.
